SALARY: £21,005 – £24,612 pro rata + Outer London Allowance of £1,822 per annum

LOCATION: Feltham, West London

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Fixed Term Contract until 30th September 2023

WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Support Worker / Custody Youth Worker / Rehabilitation Facilitator with excellent interpersonal and communicative skills, a good understanding of the criminal just system and significant experience working with families, children and young people.

Working as a Support Worker / Custody Youth Worker / Rehabilitation Facilitator you will be required to facilitate 1-1 or group intervention sessions to meet identified support needs of children and young people and manage groups to ensure effective engagement in the programme by all participants.

As a Support Worker / Custody Youth Worker / Rehabilitation Facilitator you will be required to work alongside agencies to assess, provide and promote multi-disciplinary workflow within the establishment.

The program is being piloted in response to the increasing numbers of young boys facing extended time incarcerated within the prison system.

The Support Worker / Custody Youth Worker / Rehabilitation Facilitator will be working alongside young residents and their families, providing support to participants and supporting the delivery and development of the programme. They will also join a team of passionate professionals who are driven in seeing real change and rehabilitation with the lives of those in custody.

DUTIES

Your role as a Support Worker / Custody Youth Worker / Rehabilitation Facilitator will include:

Deliver the programme to a high standard to children and young people who have been identified and referred or self referred

Use a range of approaches and skills to effectively engage with children and young people

Ensure that the policies, procedures, and practice for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people are implemented effectively

Work flexibly and deliver services across the company as directed

Report any concerns regarding safeguarding and health and safety within the required timeframes and follow the policy and procedures

Comply with the health and safety / fire safety policies and procedures applicable to each of the venues utilised and where necessary undertake relevant risk assessments

Adhere to expectations around professional boundaries when working with children, young people, and families

Build appropriate professional relationships

Ensure any relevant paperwork is completed by the children and young people and support is given where needed including for the online evaluations

Complete paperwork associated with the sessions and support the completion of monitoring / observations

Take part in follow-up evaluation exercises of the programme and it’s achievements

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Maths/English Grade C or above

Youth work qualification

A good understanding of the needs of families affected by imprisonment and the impact of custody on children

Significant experience of work with families, children and young people

Knowledge of Safeguarding procedures

Experience of working with challenging / hard to engage client groups

Experience of presenting information to groups

Experience of carrying out Risk Assessments

Experience of delivering training packages to a variety of audiences

A working knowledge and demonstrable understanding of:

The Children Acts of 1989 and 2004 and United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child
Child protection and safeguarding issues, including Safeguarding and Child Protection policies, procedures and systems
The Data Protection act in relation to working with Children families and multi-agency working.

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – effective in a variety of settings and range of people

Demonstrates an excellent customer service approach

Proficient time management skills

Skills in collating and sharing data

A car driver and access to a car for work purposes

Ability to travel regularly within the delivery area

Flexible approach to hours due to travel and supporting the needs of colleagues and service users. This will include some weekend and evening work outside normal working hours
